About Open Psychology Labs

Open Psychology Labs is an open educational resource that allows anyone, anywhere, to learn about and participate in classic and modern psychology studies, bridging the gap between academic research and public understanding.

This project was born from my experience as a lab instructor at Brooklyn College. There, I developed online demonstrations that allowed students to experience experiments firsthand and gain valuable experience in data analysis. This approach proved so effective that I was inspired to expand it into a broader, more accessible platform.

The development of Open Psychology Labs is led by Dr. Nick Brosowsky, with generous support from the University of Manitoba's Advance Open Ed initiative.

Our Vision and Roadmap

In the coming year, we will be expanding our library of labs, with an initial focus on Cognitive Psychology to support my teaching at the University of Manitoba. However, our long-term goal is to cover a wide range of psychological disciplines.

Our next steps include:

  1. Expanding our collection of interactive labs
  2. Open-sourcing our code: We will make all the code for these demonstrations publicly available
  3. Implementing open data collection: While we currently don't save any data from demonstrations, we plan to introduce optional data collection. This data will be immediately available, supporting real-time learning and research opportunities
